About the role

Northeastern University seeks experienced bioinformatics professionals to teach graduate courses in its Bioinformatics Professional Science Master’s program. The position is part‑time and may involve both in‑person and online instruction in Oakland.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and learn key teaching points from existing instructor guides.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures based on provided course materials.
  • Facilitate respectful debates and discussions in class.
  • Grade assignments promptly and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding their performance.
  • Contribute to curriculum development efforts.

Required profile

  • PhD in bioinformatics, biology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience applying computational methods to biological problems.
  • Either prior teaching experience or at least three years of relevant industry or academic work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty leads and receive coaching.

Required skills

  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Proficiency in R programming.
