Acute Care Physical Therapist - Orthopedics (Zale)

About the role

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is hiring an Acute Care Physical Therapist for its Zale location. Therapists here work in a focused orthopedic setting, supporting patients through early mobility, postoperative recovery, education and discharge planning, and collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, nursing and interdisciplinary partners. Cross-training at CUH also gives exposure to medically complex, transplant, neurosurgical, ICU and other acute care populations.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate patients, identify problems and set reasonable goals with realistic time frames
• Analyze and design treatment plans, and check whether they are effective and progress the patient in a timely way
• Prepare for patient discharge, including submitting equipment needs accurately and on time
• Record patient progress concisely, accurately and on time
• Work as an independent, team-oriented clinician with good clinical judgment and basic computer knowledge
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited physical therapy program, eligible for licensure in Texas
• Active CPR certification upon hire, or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the AHA or ARC
• Licensed Physical Therapist eligible for Texas licensure upon hire
• No experience required; new graduates welcome (1 year preferred)
