Acute Care Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Emergency Medicine (Nights)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide emergency medicine care during night shifts. The role works in a collaborative model with residents, fellows, attendings, staff nurses and discharge coordinators, delivering primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization, and patient education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency stabilization and urgent care for critically ill patients in the emergency department.
• Teach and supervise residents, medical students, and staff nurses.
• Participate in discharge planning, patient education, and care coordination with the PCCs and discharge coordinators.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and accreditation standards.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing OR Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Medicine/Health Sciences from an approved program.
• Current APRN license (Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner) OR active Physician Assistant license with NCCPA certification.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Eligibility for prescriptive authority in the state of practice.
