Acupuncturist (Temp/Part-Time) – Family Medicine & Community Health

About the role

The Family Medicine & Community Health unit at the University of Miami seeks a part‑time, temporary Acupuncturist to provide holistic care for patients with pain, sports‑related injuries, and a range of emotional, mental, and physical conditions. The role focuses on balancing life energy through precise needle placement and complementary modalities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including lifestyle, diet, health history, and symptoms.
• Develop and implement individualized acupuncture treatment plans.
• Insert needles at appropriate points to restore balance of life energy.
• Administer treatments over periods ranging from weeks to months, monitoring progress and adjusting plans as needed.
• Maintain strict safety, infection control, and quality standards.
• Discuss treatment options, preventative measures, and provide patient education.
• Document health care plans, progress notes, and prognoses accurately.
• Dispense herbal formulas, advising on dosage, duration, side effects, and interactions.
• Comply with local, state, federal regulations and university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Certification and licensing in acupuncture or a related specialty.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional acupuncture experience.
• Experience treating pain‑management and sports‑medicine cases.
• Familiarity with community‑acupuncture group‑visit models.
