Actuarial Analyst

About the role

Join Athena’s Health Practice as an Actuarial Analyst and work remotely with occasional travel to client sites and Athena hub cities. You will collaborate directly with senior consultants and clients to develop actuarial solutions for public healthcare programs, gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑moving consulting environment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze healthcare data, financial statements, and related work products to support recommendations.
• Build and maintain Excel‑based models and actuarial tools.
• Contribute to client reports, strategic planning documents, and presentations.
• Ask insightful questions and help shape solutions for complex healthcare challenges.
• Participate in Athena community and strategy meetings to reinforce culture and mission.

Required profile

• 0–2 years of actuarial experience through school, internships, or early‑career roles.
• Progress toward ASA or FSA designation.
• Strong problem‑solving instincts and a passion for learning.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote‑first environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Familiarity with programming tools such as SAS, SQL, or MacroVB.
