Accounts Payable Accountant – Finance Department

About the role

Georgia Public Broadcasting is seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant to join its Finance department. The role involves processing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payments in accordance with State of Georgia policies.

Key responsibilities

• Review, match, and process invoices, receiving reports, contracts, purchase orders, and recurring expenses in the Accounts Payable module.
• Prepare invoices for payment following State of Georgia policies and procedures.
• Audit vendor invoices, utility bills, travel reimbursements, and contracts for accuracy, completeness, and proper general‑ledger coding.
• Coordinate with the budget office to clear expenses, verify payment status, and prevent over‑payments.
• Process travel expenses and assist staff with Concur system inquiries.
• Handle monthly purchasing‑card payments and coordinate with budget and purchasing teams.
• Assist with quarterly 1099 reporting for the IRS.
• Maintain accounts‑payable files and respond to internal inquiries.
• Perform special projects, compile financial data, and prepare reconciliations for all AP accounts.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in accounting, finance, or a related area.
• Ability to work independently and communicate issues promptly.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an Accounts Payable software module.
• Experience using the Concur travel‑expense system.
• Knowledge of general‑ledger coding and 1099 reporting.
