Accounting Manager – Substance Use Disorder Treatment

About the role

CRI-Help, a nonprofit substance use disorder treatment center, is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead its accounting function. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations, and supports the organization’s mission of delivering high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise accounting staff, including accounts payable and senior accountant.
• Prepare, review, and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper transaction recording.
• Allocate costs across programs funded by Medi‑Cal and other contracts, ensuring reimbursement compliance.
• Monitor compliance with Medi‑Cal, HIPAA, Stark Law, and third‑party payer regulations.
• Coordinate audit preparation and support annual external audits.
• Stay current on healthcare reimbursement policies and regulatory changes.
• Conduct performance appraisals for supervised staff as required.
• Reconcile all bank accounts on a monthly basis.

Required profile

• Experience supervising accounting teams in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and relevant regulations (Medi‑Cal, HIPAA, Stark Law).
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex cost‑allocation and reimbursement processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
