Accounting Manager (Remote)

About the role

A boutique accounting and advisory firm serving small and mid-sized businesses is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to own client accounting work end-to-end and help build and lead a small accounting team. The role starts with hands-on bookkeeping and tax work, then moves toward supervising junior staff and improving processes. It is fully remote, with a stated pay of $1,500-$2,000 USD.

Key responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping for multiple client accounts, perform monthly reconciliations and close processes, prepare and review financial statements, and maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Prepare and review business and individual tax returns, assist with tax planning and compliance, research accounting and tax issues, and support clients through tax season.
• Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, review their work, improve workflows and quality control, and act as the first point of escalation for accounting questions.
• Communicate professionally with clients, resolve issues proactively, manage deadlines across multiple engagements and deliver accurate work with minimal supervision.

Required profile

• 5-7+ years of public accounting or client accounting experience.
• Experience reviewing the work of other accountants or bookkeepers and mentoring junior team members.
• Ability to manage multiple clients at once, work independently with minimal oversight, and handle several deadlines calmly.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Preferred: CPA or CPA candidate, experience in a U.S. CPA firm, and experience managing remote teams.
