Accounting Intern

About the role

The Dallas Mavericks accounting team is looking for a motivated Accounting Intern to support a variety of projects throughout the season. This 6‑month, in‑person internship offers hands‑on experience with financial reporting, bookkeeping, and data analysis while working alongside seasoned professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with research, filing, data entry, and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Prepare financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, invoices, and related documents.
• Utilize bookkeeping and accounting software to record transactions.
• Handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
• Support the accounting team in compiling, analyzing, and tracking financial data.
• Shadow department members and contribute to additional projects to deepen accounting knowledge.

Required profile

• Junior or senior enrolled in a 4‑year college, preferably majoring in accounting or finance.
• Completed introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of financial accounting principles.
• Strong aptitude for math, high accuracy, and responsibility.
• Ability to work 29 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and game days.
• Professional demeanor and ability to engage with diverse coworkers and clients.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
