Accounting Director – Business Unit P&L

About the role

The Business Unit (P&L) Accounting Director is a senior leadership position within Kelly Services' Controllership organization. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the role oversees full profit‑and‑loss responsibility for the SETT, ETM, and EDU business segments.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end P&L for each segment, including revenue, cost of services, accounts receivable oversight, and segment‑specific SG&A.
• Manage BU‑specific transactions such as program revenue accruals, deferred revenue, unbilled AR, rebates, pass‑throughs, technology fees, VMS/MSP fees, and on‑bill activity.
• Draft and review segment P&L during close, ensuring accurate recognition and margin reporting.
• Provide service‑line revenue schedules, GP by segment, and narrative support for external reporting and M&A activities.
• Maintain internal controls over revenue and cost of services, including journal entry approvals and BPR responses.
• Partner with Finance Business Partners and BU leadership to coordinate rebates, milestone billings, and other transaction requirements.

Required profile

• Extensive revenue accounting experience in services businesses such as staffing, professional services, managed services, or consulting.
• Proven ability to build and lead a new accounting team from legacy organizations.
• Strong partnership skills with finance and operational leaders.
• Demonstrated ownership of full P&L for large, complex service‑line segments.
