Accounting Assistant (Entry Level)

About the role

The Accounting Assistant will support the finance team by handling routine accounting and clerical tasks. This entry‑level position offers on‑the‑job training and exposure to payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger activities.

Key responsibilities

• Answer and forward incoming calls, take messages, and greet visitors.
• Assist in preparing control documents for payroll, payables, receivables, health, job cost and other transactions.
• Generate daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports, statements and invoices.
• Type correspondence, checks, reports and label envelopes.
• Maintain organized files for payroll, accounts payable and general accounting documents.
• Order office supplies, manage the supply room and handle mail and courier duties between Flint offices.
• Collect and dispose of recycled materials and keep kitchen, conference room and reception area presentable.
• Submit timesheets, vacation requests and absence reports to the CFO.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Required profile

• High‑school education with business, bookkeeping or typing courses.
• Some clerical experience is desirable.
• Basic understanding of bookkeeping or accounting procedures.
• Strong communication skills, both in person and by telephone.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing requests.
