Accountant – Month-End Close & General Ledger (Contract)

About the role

This contract position supports the monthly close process, general ledger accounting, and audit preparation for a fast‑growing finance team in Jacksonville, FL. Reporting to the Director of Technical Accounting, you will ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and delivered on time while helping to develop accounting policies in line with GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and related accounts.
• Prepare documentation for audits and support audit inquiries.
• Assist with accounts payable/receivable transaction workflows.
• Contribute to the creation and improvement of accounting policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work independently.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
