About the role

Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) supports non-profit organizations founded by Alice Walton, including the Alice L. Walton Foundation, the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, Art Bridges, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Momentary and Heartland Whole Health Institute. The Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance and financial reporting, and contributes to financial statements, cash management, audit support and process improvement. The position reports to Accounting Leadership, is exempt under FLSA, and is based on-site in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and post periodic journal entries.
• Complete month-end, quarter-end and year-end close tasks and support financial statements, management reports and board materials.
• Develop and maintain process documentation and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Support tax and audit preparation with external partners and resolve routine accounting issues, escalating complex ones.
• Streamline workflows, coordinate with team members on finance and accounting projects and perform other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, including reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, financial controls or similar.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Experience with ERP systems; Workday experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handle confidential information with integrity, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
