About the role
REI Co-op is seeking an Accountant I to support its corporate finance operations. You will be responsible for reviewing, balancing, and posting basic financial data into the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while adhering to GAAP and internal policies.
Key responsibilities
- Review, balance, and post corporate financial data from multiple systems into the General Ledger.
- Reconcile less complex balance‑sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Address cash posting issues with stores, banks, or cash‑management teams.
- Process business license forms, clearing transactions, weekly cash deposits, and customer check requests.
- Handle daily chargebacks, bad checks, restitution, and related functions.
- Investigate and apply state and federal regulations to maximize recoveries.
- Serve as backup support for external interface processing and maintain awareness of operational impacts.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
Required profile
- 2+ years of cash management, treasury, or finance experience (preferred).
- Solid understanding of multiple financial systems.
- Basic knowledge of Excel or Word.
- Demonstrated ability to apply GAAP to General Ledger accounting.
- Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Basic business math proficiency.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work across teams.
