Accountant – Financial Services

About the role

Business Sweden is seeking an experienced Accountant to provide financial administration, bookkeeping, and financial statement preparation for a diverse portfolio of Swedish companies operating in the United States. You will work closely with external clients across sectors such as retail, technology, pharma, and luxury goods.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver external financial information through bookkeeping, account analysis, and preparation of financial statements.
• Manage client accounts, including bank set‑up, payroll processing, benefit deductions, and business insurance.
• Research and interpret accounting data, answer tax, sales‑tax, AP/AR, and invoicing queries.
• Prepare general‑ledger entries, reconcile accounts, and close month‑end periods.
• Produce external financial statements by gathering and analyzing general‑ledger data.
• Handle payments, expense accruals, invoicing, cash/bank reconciliation, and limited forecasting.
• Support client dialogues, understand needs, and promote Business Sweden’s service offerings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 2‑5+ years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Client‑focused mindset with relationship‑building abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with QuickBooks (Premier, Accountant, Online) or similar accounting software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Good knowledge of GAAP.
