Academic Advisor – Student Success

About the role

The Academic Advisor supports student retention and success by providing proactive, student‑centered guidance. Working within Centralized Advising, you will help students plan their education, select courses, and navigate campus resources while fostering academic, career, and personal development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver holistic academic advising aligned with industry best practices and student development theories.
• Monitor academic progress and implement engagement and intervention strategies to improve retention.
• Participate in outreach, enrollment campaigns, and communication initiatives.
• Provide referrals to campus resources and assist students in navigating institutional processes.
• Maintain accurate student records, interaction notes, and use advising technology efficiently.
• Stay current on curriculum, course equivalencies, and related career opportunities.
• Apply university policies consistently and support course equivalency evaluations as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
• Excellent written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Experience using student information systems, degree planning, and degree audit tools.
