2nd Shift CNC Operator

About the role

Amerex, a global leader in fire suppression products, is hiring a 2nd shift CNC Operator in Trussville. The CNC Operator operates and maintains machine shop equipment to produce and test quality components, keeping them within technical specifications, safety standards and production goals in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials and orthographic drawings.
• Load the feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
• Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts and sample workpieces.
• Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations, and complete preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Document actions in production and quality logs and communicate with other shifts.
• Participate in training and educational opportunities.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to pass a post-offer drug test, background check and fitness review.
• High attention to detail and self-motivation.
• Willing to train, rotate through all department workstations and work in other departments as needed.
• Able to work in seasonal heat and humidity (conditioned air) and under production pressure.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive bending, rotating and standing, and using hand and power tools.
