Workday Financial Aid Subject Matter Expert (Part‑time)

About the role

The Office of Student Financial Aid at the University of Maryland seeks a highly skilled Workday Financial Aid Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a part‑time contingent basis (up to 20 hours per week). The SME will support the transition to the Workday Student Financial Aid module, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and effective student aid operations.

Key responsibilities

• Document, test, and communicate institutional business processes and compliance requirements for Workday Financial Aid.
• Partner with Student Financial Aid staff, Enrollment Management, Elevate Student project team, and other campus groups to manage change to Workday.
• Lead or participate in User Acceptance Testing, data mapping, and validation for the ERP implementation.
• Create custom Workday reports, calculated fields, and configure business processes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of higher‑education financial aid administration experience (Director, Associate Director, or Senior Systems Analyst level).
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on Workday Financial Aid configuration or implementation experience.
• Deep knowledge of Federal Student Aid regulations (Title IV, COD, SAIG, FAFSA/ISIR, R2T4, SAP).
• Experience with major ERP migrations (e.g., Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, Colleague) to Workday.

• Workday Financial Aid module configuration and testing.
• Workday custom reporting, calculated fields, and business process setup.
• Data mapping, validation, and UAT execution.
• Change management and training delivery for administrative staff.
