Wireless Systems Research Engineer (Level III/IV/Sr I)

About the role

The Wireless Systems Research Engineer will support basic and applied research on next‑generation wireless networks within the Texas A&M University System Offices. Working under general direction, you will design, implement, and evaluate innovative solutions to emerging wireless challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate research proposals, including technical approaches, equipment, protocols, and tools.
• Create network designs, standards, and documentation for new or upgraded research networks.
• Gather requirements from researchers, system administrators, contractors, and vendors to define specifications.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on wireless networking projects and provide technical guidance.
• Design and recommend security measures for research network systems.

Required profile

• Strong background in wireless networking and research methodologies.
• Ability to analyze technical approaches and produce detailed network designs.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
