Wellness Instructor

About the role

The Wellness Instructor conducts assessments, develops and implements training regimens, and provides motivated fitness coaching to support members in wellness programs at the University of Miami.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct fitness and health risk assessments and baseline biometric testing.
• Review health history questionnaires and determine need for medical clearance.
• Develop and implement structured exercise programs, including personal training.
• Monitor participants in fitness and intervention programs and ensure policy compliance.
• Supervise fitness areas, inspect equipment for damage or misuse, and maintain cleanliness.
• Present educational sessions on fitness and wellness topics.
• Assist with orientations, educational programs, and marketing campaigns for wellness services.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience, certification or license.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Applicable certifications as defined by the department.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
