Weekend Utilization Review RN

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a Registered Nurse to perform Utilization Review duties on weekends. This position supports the hospital’s commitment to high‑quality, cost‑effective patient care by evaluating the medical necessity of services during Saturday and Sunday shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct utilization reviews for inpatient and outpatient cases during weekend hours.
• Assess clinical documentation to determine appropriateness of care and resource use.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to resolve utilization issues.
• Document review findings and recommendations in the electronic health record.
• Ensure compliance with UAMS policies, payer guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Current employee of the University of Arkansas System (including student employees or graduate assistants) or eligible external candidate with legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas.
• Strong analytical and clinical judgment skills.
