Wastewater Treatment Technician – Groundwater System Assistant

About the role

Parsons is seeking an Environmental Technician / Groundwater Treatment System Technician to work full‑time in Ironton, Ohio. The role supports operation of a 200 gpm groundwater recovery and treatment system that includes aeration, pH adjustment, clarification, filtration and activated carbon processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist operators in daily operation of pumping and control equipment, calibrate metering devices, and perform basic field laboratory tests.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, collect samples, and maintain accurate logs and reports.
• Perform routine maintenance on mechanical and electrical components, including pumps, mixers, and filtration units.
• Support non‑treatment tasks such as lawn mowing, snow removal, vehicle fueling, and facility housekeeping.

Required profile

• High school diploma (or equivalent) with 4+ years related experience, or an Associate’s degree with 2+ years experience.
• Completion of a 40‑hour HAZWOPER OSHA training course (current preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to lift 50 lb, work in confined spaces and under inclement weather.

Required skills

• Mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance.

• Operation of chemical addition, reactor, pumping and mixing systems.
• Knowledge of automated control systems and SCADA.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• HAZWOPER safety training.
