VP, Head of Complex Excess Claims

About the role

Zurich is seeking a Vice President to lead the Complex Excess Claims organization, overseeing national teams and driving technical excellence, financial performance, and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing national Complex Excess Claims organization, ensuring technical quality and compliance.
• Set and execute a forward‑looking claims strategy aligned with Zurich’s vision and business objectives.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Finance, Actuary, Marketing, and Distribution to provide claims insights for product development and growth.
• Present claims trends and risk insights to internal and external partners to support retention and growth.
• Drive continuous improvement through process simplification, innovation, and best‑practice adoption.
• Attract, develop, and retain top claims talent and foster an inclusive, performance‑driven culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of claims experience, including 6+ years of people management.
• Extensive experience handling Complex Excess Claims and insurance litigation.
• Strong negotiation, customer service, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel up to 20% and work in a matrixed environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
