About the role
Mapfre is seeking a strategic, results‑driven leader to shape the future of its Commercial Lines business. As Vice President of Commercial Lines Underwriting & Product Development you will drive underwriting strategy, product innovation, pricing and regulatory execution to deliver profitable growth and enhance customer value.
Key responsibilities
- Establish underwriting frameworks, risk appetite, eligibility guidelines and portfolio management strategies.
- Partner with Actuarial to develop pricing strategies, monitor performance and optimize profitability.
- Lead end‑to‑end product lifecycle from strategy and design through implementation and optimization.
- Identify emerging market trends and customer needs to drive product innovation and differentiation.
- Lead state filing strategy, ensure regulatory compliance and establish governance processes.
- Partner with Operations, Digital and Distribution to improve workflows, automation and the customer/agent experience.
- Build, coach and develop a high‑performing underwriting and product development organization.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on underwriting performance, product strategy and growth initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 12+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting, product development or related insurance experience.
- Proven leadership at Director, AVP or VP level.
- Deep expertise in Commercial Lines products, underwriting, pricing, portfolio management and regulatory filing.
- Strong understanding of profitability management, risk assessment and underwriting governance.
- Demonstrated success partnering with Actuarial and cross‑functional leaders to drive profitable growth.
- Exceptional communication, executive presence and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, FCIP, ACAS or FCAS preferred.

- Salary range $215,000 – $270,000 with eligibility for annual incentive bonus.
