Volunteer Resource Coordinator – Wilkes RYDC

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Volunteer Resource Coordinator for the Wilkes Regional Youth Development Center (RYDC). Under supervision, the coordinator will support research, policy development, and the delivery of social services while managing volunteer programs and community outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in conferences, seminars, and public presentations on behalf of the agency.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with local businesses, agency partners, and community contacts.
• Recruit, train, monitor, and retain volunteers for outreach projects.
• Plan and coordinate meetings, special events, and volunteer activities.
• Respond to routine inquiries, providing information or directing callers to appropriate resources.
• Evaluate and monitor volunteer resources, workshops, programs, and donations.
• Process volunteer applications, conduct criminal background checks, and maintain records.
• Maintain a monthly calendar of volunteer events and an authorized volunteer/intern list.
• Serve on the advisory council and attend all council meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to pass reference and criminal background checks.
• Experience in volunteer services, community outreach, or youth event planning is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
• Strong organizational and event‑planning abilities.
