U.S. Army Preventive Medicine Officer

About the role

The U.S. Army Medical Corps is seeking qualified Preventive Medicine Officers to protect the health of Soldiers, retirees, and their families. In this position you will combine clinical expertise with public‑health leadership to prevent disease and injury across military communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Force Health Protection initiatives, assessing and mitigating health threats at individual and population levels.
• Develop, implement, and oversee public‑health programs including assessment, policy development, and assurance.
• Establish and direct physical medicine and rehabilitation services at medical installations.
• Train, mentor, and coordinate with other medical personnel such as public‑health nurses, entomologists, environmental scientists, occupational medicine officers, and industrial hygienists.
• Collaborate with civilian agencies and support humanitarian missions as required.

Required profile

• Professional degree in preventive medicine, public health, or a related medical field (MD, DO, or equivalent).
• Commissioned officer status or eligibility to become a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.
• Willingness to serve in a military environment and potentially deploy domestically or internationally.
