Underwriting Specialist / Executive Underwriter – Middle Market

About the role

Zurich North America is expanding its Middle Market team in Philadelphia. The role can be filled at either Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level, depending on experience, and offers a hybrid work schedule with three days per week in the office or market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries.
• Leverage property and casualty underwriting expertise to assess risk, evaluate exposure, price, and manage a profitable book of new and renewal business.
• Collaborate with claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial, and technical underwriting teams.
• Use technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant years of underwriting, market‑facing, claims, or underwriting support experience as outlined for each level.
• Knowledge of lines of business, legal and regulatory guidelines, and time constraints for quotes.
• Ability to work in a team environment and meet time‑sensitive quoting requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
