Undergraduate Sales Intern – Safety & Industrial Business Group

About the role

This 10‑12 week internship is designed for undergraduate students starting in Summer 2027. You will work within 3M’s Safety & Industrial Business Group, gaining hands‑on experience in B2B sales, customer engagement and commercial growth.

Key responsibilities

• Build and strengthen business relationships to understand customer needs and identify growth opportunities.
• Develop foundational knowledge of 3M SIBG product lines, customer segments, competitive landscape and pricing.
• Recommend safety and industrial solutions that align with customer applications and business goals.
• Support sales growth through account planning, pipeline development, customer follow‑up and distributor engagement.
• Collaborate with experienced sales professionals and cross‑functional teams, participating in training and exposure to senior leadership.
• Contribute to projects that address real business challenges and create value for customers and channel partners.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Valid driver’s license (required for field sales positions).
• Interest in B2B sales, account management, business development or industrial/safety markets.
• Strong communication, analytical mindset and self‑motivation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Experience with CRM systems or sales reporting tools (preferred).
• Exposure to data analytics platforms (preferred).
