Trim & Drill – Composites Technician

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a hands‑on Trim & Drill – Composites Technician to shape, trim, and finish composite hulls, decks, and structural parts for Department of Defense applications. The role demands precision craftsmanship, strict adherence to tolerances, and a safety‑first mindset in a fast‑paced production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Trim, cut, grind, and deburr composite components using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and shop equipment.
• Interpret trim outlines, edge tolerances, and engineering drawings to guide finishing operations.
• Use jigs, templates, and measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, gauges) to verify part geometry.
• Prepare bonding surfaces and perform surface preparation for painting, bonding, or secondary assembly.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas; identify defects, report non‑conformances, and support rework.
• Collaborate with lay‑up, infusion, and quality teams to ensure seamless production flow.
• Document work on a tablet and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of hands‑on experience trimming large and small composite or fiberglass parts.
• Ability to work with urgency while maintaining high quality.
• Physical ability to lift parts, stand for long periods, and wear protective equipment.
• U.S. Person status (citizen or permanent resident) required for DoD work.

Required skills

• Grinders, sanders, Dremel tools, saws, pneumatic drills, pneumatic saws.
• Measurement tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges.
• Interpretation of engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Knowledge of composite materials (carbon fiber, fiberglass, core structures).
• Use of jigs and fixtures for composite assembly.
• Tablet for digital documentation.
• Forklift or material‑handling experience (optional).
