Trailer Mechanic – Up to $35.33/hr + Sign‑on Bonus

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a Trailer Mechanic for its Wilmington, OH Service Center. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of trailers to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic procedures on trailers and identify required repairs.
• Execute repair work, replace defective parts, and conduct preventive maintenance (PM) on trailers.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare required FMCSA, state and local safety documentation.
• Interpret technical manuals and ensure work meets manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards.
• Test equipment for proper performance and verify compliance with regulations.
• Lift up to 50 lb and work in varying climate conditions as needed.

Required profile

• Experience conducting safety inspections and completing FMCSA documentation.
• Proficiency in reading and applying technical manuals.
• Hands‑on experience repairing or replacing trailer components and performing trailer PMs.
• Ability to test equipment and verify compliance with specifications.
• Dependable, self‑motivated and able to work in diverse weather conditions.
• Own a complete set of personal tools.
• Preferred: experience with Cetaris Maintenance Work Order System, welding, yard tractor/trailer operation, Class 8 commercial vehicle maintenance, sheet‑metal and composite panel repair.
