Traffic Producer / Editor

About the role

iHeartMedia, the largest audio company in America, is hiring a Traffic Producer / Reporter for its Total Traffic + Weather Network in Cleveland. The role delivers fast, accurate and engaging traffic updates that help viewers navigate their day, blending information gathering, reporting, production and storytelling in a fast-paced newsroom.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and produce live and/or pre-recorded radio shows covering news, music, talk, sports, traffic and features
• Research information, gather materials and contact and schedule guests
• Give direction to presenters, content providers, assistants and crew
• Manage budgets and ensure efficient use of resources
• Obtain permissions or licenses for on-location recording, broadcasting and use of music, sound effects and archive material
• Monitor listener emails and inquiries about shows
• Perform quality assurance with presenters and contributors against production standards
• Use soundboards and editing/production software, and schedule and monitor live streams
• Save recordings, archive files and edit in post-production; may work the board for pre-recorded or live shows

Required profile

• Experience as a radio producer
• Comprehensive knowledge of news and weather
• Ability to work morning, evening or weekend hours, with frequent schedule changes
• Four-year college degree, preferably in Radio or Media Production, or equivalent experience
• Writing sample required

Required skills

• Excellent writing and storytelling, with attention to detail
• Knowledge of recording equipment and operation of radio studios
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social networking platforms
• Knowledge of radio production laws, rules and regulations and how to obtain clearances
