Traffic Control Associate – Fresno

About the role

The Traffic Control Associate ensures safe and efficient movement of motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and workers around active construction and utility work zones in Fresno. You will use hand signals, paddles, and traffic devices to direct traffic while maintaining strict safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, and tear down work zone traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, and signs.
• Signal drivers using a paddle and hand signals to stop, slow, or proceed safely.
• Communicate with crew leaders, customers, and the public via radios or hand signals.
• Drive company trucks and transport equipment as needed.

Required profile

• Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently in high‑volume outdoor environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and stand for long periods in various weather conditions.

Required skills

• ATSSA Flagging certification (or willingness to obtain in‑house).
• Knowledge of Caltrans MUTCD and traffic control plans (preferred).
• Experience driving medium‑duty vehicles and towing trailers.
• Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
