Technical Director – Airport Redevelopment

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Director to lead the redevelopment, construction and operational transition of Cyril E. King Airport (STT) and Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) under SkyCity’s public‑private partnership concession. Reporting to the CEO, the director will provide strategic technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction, commissioning and hand‑over to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve on the executive leadership team, shaping corporate strategy and business planning for the airport redevelopment programme.
• Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans, including scope, schedule, budget and performance metrics.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of consultants, designers, contractors and technical advisors, ensuring alignment with commercial, legal and regulatory requirements.
• Establish governance structures, decision‑making frameworks and reporting protocols for the development and construction phases.
• Oversee design, construction, testing and commissioning activities while maintaining uninterrupted airport operations.
• Provide the CEO and Board with technical insights, performance reports and strategic recommendations.
• Manage relationships with airlines, federal agencies (TSA, CBP), environmental regulators and community stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in airport or large‑scale infrastructure development and delivery.
• Proven ability to lead complex, multi‑disciplinary projects through all phases from concept to operational hand‑over.
• Strong understanding of aviation regulatory frameworks, environmental permitting and public‑private partnership models.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with experience liaising with airlines, government agencies and community groups.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and capability to align technical delivery with corporate and financial objectives.
