Technical Compliance Engineer

About the role

The Technical Compliance Engineer ensures that regulatory and legal requirements for selling private branded or imported products are met, and acts as a business partner to the engineering team on private brand compliance projects. The engineer tracks new and updated regulations affecting private brand product categories, monitors projects so that products sold meet those regulations, works with third-party test laboratories to write, review and update protocols, and helps align cross-functional teams on new and existing processes. The position reports to a Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Engineering project management (30%): product requirement development and test protocol development
• Financial and value-based calculations (20%): summarize findings for the business and share them with key stakeholders
• Resolution of product performance concerns (40%)
• General product engineering guidance and evaluations as needed (10%)

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Education: bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job; mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field preferred
• Preferred: MBA, product costing experience, extensive knowledge of bills of materials, merchandising financial terms and INCO shipping terms
• Preferred: experience in manufacturing or product development, with OEM and vertically integrated manufacturers
• Preferred: business acumen on merchandising and ability to use costing software such as Boothroyd Dewhurst DFM/DFMAM
