Teaching Assistant – Various School Locations (External Applicants)

About the role

The Buffalo Board of Education is seeking qualified Teaching Assistants to support classroom instruction across multiple school locations. Key responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional support to students under the guidance of certified teachers and the principal.
• Work with individual pupils or small groups on special instructional projects and activities.
• Assist teachers by gathering and sharing information about student progress to help shape learning experiences.
• Support students in using instructional resources and participate in programs such as foreign language, arts, music, and crafts.
• Communicate effectively with the instructional team, parents, and other professional staff.
• Attend to students' physical needs and assist with related institutional duties as required.

Required profile

• Hold a temporary license, continuing certificate, or Level I, II, III or Para‑Professional certificate.
• Pass the Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills (ATAS) or have a qualifying score on the Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (LAST).
• Maintain state or federal certification.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the school environment and its population.
