Tax Filing & Payments Specialist

About the role

As a Tax Filing & Payments Specialist you will own filing and payments for multiple agencies across thousands of employers, handling everything from account preparation to original filings, monitoring, and amendments. You will turn friction points into product requirements and help modernize payroll tax processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end jurisdiction processes: prepare accounts, file original returns, monitor failures, and manage late filings or amendments.
• File, pay, amend and refile yourself while proactively updating filing specifications as regulations change.
• Balance tax accounts, reconcile discrepancies and investigate root causes in collaboration with Payroll Operations, R&D and Revenue.
• Log friction points, translate them into clear requirements for the engineering team, and produce documentation.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate your work and experiment with automating manual steps.
• Manage your own pipeline, communicate deadlines proactively and meet evolving SLAs.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in operations or another regulated environment.
• Proven ability to ramp up quickly in a new function or domain and become productive.
• Comfort managing your own workload across multiple jurisdictions and deadlines.
• Track record of identifying broken processes and either fixing them or documenting them clearly.
• Strong written communication skills to turn friction into actionable requirements.
• Genuine curiosity about AI and internal tooling, with experience using AI to speed up work.
• Comfort working in a product that is still being built and adapting to evolving tools.
