Supervisor, Materials Management – Operating Room

About the role

The University of Miami Hospital & Clinics is seeking a full‑time Supervisor of Materials Management for the Operating Room. This position oversees the handling, transport, and inventory of surgical materials across the facility, ensuring that all departments have the supplies they need.

Key responsibilities

• Approve or recommend employee selections, evaluate performance, and assign schedules to ensure proper coverage.
• Maintain master inventory files, manufacturer information, catalogue numbers and material descriptions.
• Organize warehouse and yard areas for efficient storage and handling, and monitor stock levels.
• Assess internal controls, ensure compliance with university policies, and train staff on procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification or license as required by the department.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in materials management or a related field.
• Strong performance‑management, team‑leadership and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and related computer applications.
• Experience using inventory management systems.
