Summer 2027 Supply Chain Buyer Internship – Santa Clara

About the role

Applied Materials’ Global Supply Chain Department is searching for interns to join our team in summer 2027! Interns will work in the Global Supply Chain group for 12 weeks supporting Supplier Account Managers, Procurement/Materials Managers and Supply Chain Analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Complete supplier request for quotations (RFQs).
• Work with suppliers on obsolescence compliance and training.
• Prepare supplier profiles for management presentations.
• Perform part analytics to assign parts to the proper commodity family.
• Interact with suppliers on cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Support Supplier Account Managers with meetings, presentations, quarterly business reviews and capacity reviews.
• Perform buyer functions such as creating, rescheduling and cancelling purchase orders per MRP.
• Call suppliers to obtain material status and expedite shipments.
• Resolve accounts‑payable issues related to invoice and receipt discrepancies.
• Find alternate or emergency sources for material.
• Provide material delivery updates to factory stakeholders and leadership.
• Mitigate excess purchase orders and inventory through supplier negotiations.
• Conduct MRP and spend analytics to identify optimization opportunities.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• In good academic standing with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Strong analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
• Excellent written, oral and quantitative communication skills.
• Data‑analytics proficiency, including advanced Excel and handling multiple data sets.
• Desire for continuous learning and improvement.
• Flexible and adaptable mindset thriving in a results‑driven culture.
• Valid work authorization for the internship period (no visa sponsorship).
