Structures Test Engineer

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a motivated Structures Test Engineer to join its maritime mechanical team. You will design, build, and test mechanical and fluid systems that support autonomous surface vessels for Department of Defense projects, working in both laboratory and field environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop test‑stand concepts, fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation lists for maritime platforms.
• Design, analyze, and validate structural and fluid systems for ASV subsystems.
• Supervise build, integration, and commissioning of mechanical test setups, including fabrication and instrumentation.
• Lead and execute mechanical and structural testing of marine components, often outdoors.
• Collaborate with naval architects, autonomy engineers, and control‑systems teams to ensure test fidelity.
• Maintain detailed records of test data, design changes, and reports for DoD certification.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Structural, or related engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience designing and operating structural test equipment.
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical design, analysis, and testing of structures or systems.
• Professional experience with structural FEA or mechanical testing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Siemens NX/Unigraphics preferred).
• Finite‑Element Analysis tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or equivalent.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Design of large steel or aluminum weldments.
• High‑pressure fluid system design.
• Mechanical assembly and fabrication techniques.
