Sterile Processing Technician

About the role

The Sterile Processing Technician ensures that surgical instruments and equipment are cleaned, inspected, and sterilized according to Vail Health Hospital’s policies. This position supports patient safety by maintaining a reliable turnover of sterile instrument sets and serves as a preceptor for new staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, inspection, and sterilization of instruments following established standards.
• Maintain instrument sets to ensure completeness, functionality, and sterility.
• Document sterilization processes accurately in log books.
• Use supplies and liners efficiently to promote cost‑effective care.
• Act as a preceptor, providing training and guidance to new employees.
• Participate in teamwork initiatives and conflict‑resolution plans.
• Deliver excellent customer service and advocate for patients.

Required profile

• No prior experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.
• Must be able to obtain required computer skills within 90 days for online learning and documentation.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
