Job description
About the role
We are looking for a talented Staff Systems Engineer to lead the architecture and development of vehicle power‑moding strategies for current and next‑generation electric vehicle platforms. In this role you will design, develop, and validate power‑management software that ensures optimal energy efficiency, performance, and reliability across a diverse portfolio of vehicle programs.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with external brand partners to align vehicle behavior with technical architecture constraints.
- Own the end‑to‑end technical definition of the power‑moding system and work with the TPM to scope and prioritize the roadmap.
- Design arbitration logic that resolves competing power requests while maintaining a safe, predictable power state.
- Define software interfaces and APIs for the power‑moding service, ensuring seamless Ethernet communication with zonal controllers.
- Partner with functional safety and energy‑management teams to implement “Limp‑Home” strategies, load‑shedding, and degraded‑state transitions.
- Translate high‑level vehicle requirements into testable specifications for software, hardware, and integration teams.
- Specify deterministic timing and sequencing between power‑moding software and LV/HV subsystems to guarantee rail stability.
- Manage vehicle‑level sleep budget, allocating and enforcing limits in coordination with the energy‑management team.
Required profile
- Deep understanding of vehicle electrical architectures and power electronics.
- Experience with deterministic software orchestration for automotive systems.
- Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
- Strong background in functional safety and energy‑management concepts.
