Staff Structures Engineer

About the role

Radiant Industries is developing the world’s first mass‑produced portable nuclear micro‑reactor. As a Staff Structures Engineer you will lead the design of critical structural components for the Kaleidos 1‑MW reactor, ensuring they operate safely under extreme temperature and mechanical loads while meeting strict size and weight constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design of transportable shielding systems, container structures, and high‑temperature graphite and metallic assemblies.
• Conduct trade studies, material selection, and detailed thermomechanical and dynamic analyses (static strength, fatigue, vibration, shock).
• Generate manufacturing and assembly instructions, develop test plans, and manage Bill‑of‑Materials (BOM) creation.
• Identify and qualify suppliers, oversee sub‑assembly schedules, and perform risk assessments (FMEA).
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, collect requirements, and provide technical feedback throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience designing structural systems.
• At least 5 years of hands‑on stress analysis using hand calculations and finite‑element tools.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Abaqus, Ansys or FEMAP for finite‑element analysis.
• Experience with CAD platforms such as Siemens NX or equivalent.
• Thermomechanical and dynamic analysis expertise.
• Bill‑of‑Materials (BOM) management and supplier development.
• Risk analysis using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
