Staff Software Engineer - Tools & Infrastructure / DevOps

About the role

Cerebras Systems builds the world's largest AI chip, which delivers training and inference speeds over 10 times faster than GPU-based cloud services. It is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Developer Productivity organization, focused on tools and infrastructure. The role provides technical leadership, influences engineering standards and mentors other engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve CI/CD pipelines that support reliable build, test and release workflows.
• Own and improve artifact lifecycle systems, including versioning, storage, distribution, dependency management and reproducible builds at scale.
• Partner with development teams on code review workflows, branching strategies and automated integration.
• Provision, monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for CI workloads, balancing cost, performance, scalability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot build failures, pipeline bottlenecks and infrastructure issues, driving root-cause analysis and durable fixes.
• Improve internal build infrastructure, test infrastructure, developer tooling and automation, and lead architectural improvements to developer infrastructure.
• Contribute to AI tooling that improves engineering productivity and automates repetitive workflows.
• Provide technical leadership, influence engineering standards and mentor engineers.
• Participate in on-call and incident response for Developer Productivity systems.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, developer productivity or a related area.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams and improving developer infrastructure at organizational scale.
• Ability to identify architectural bottlenecks, evaluate trade-offs and drive long-term improvements.
• Experience operating production systems, on-call, incident response and postmortems.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Required skills

• CI/CD systems and automated build, test and deployment infrastructure.
• Artifact repositories, software packaging, dependency management and reproducible builds.
• Cloud platforms, with AWS preferred, and programmatic infrastructure provisioning.
• Distributed version control, code review workflows and branching strategies.
• Linux/Unix, networking fundamentals and scripting or programming for automation.
• Containerization and container orchestration, with Kubernetes preferred.
• Preferred: infrastructure-as-code, Python, Go or Shell, build systems, observability, internal developer platforms and AI/LLM tooling for engineering.
