Staff Platform Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Platform Engineer to lead the architecture and evolution of our Crucible platform. You will partner with senior engineers to define the technical roadmap and build the deployment systems, developer tooling, and services that power customer applications. The role combines long‑term platform design with hands‑on problem solving in production.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical roadmap of Crucible, building deployment systems, developer tooling, and abstractions for customer applications.
• Expand platform capabilities to enable faster, more reliable deployments for feature development engineers.
• Transform customer‑specific solutions into reusable services, platform patterns, or extensible capabilities.
• Instrument the platform in production, debug live incidents, improve reliability and security, and eliminate recurring operational issues.
• Provide technical leadership through system design, code reviews, documentation, and engineering standards.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering foundation with experience building production platforms, deployment systems, and developer tooling.
• Ability to design extensible systems that operate across multiple cloud and customer‑hosted environments.
• Comfortable working with Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, observability, security, and production reliability.
• Proven track record of improving developer productivity, deployment speed, platform adoption, and operational reliability.
• Hands‑on implementation skills with a high bar for code quality and clear technical judgment.

Required skills

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with platform infrastructure ownership.
• Strong programming in Go, Python, or TypeScript and experience with distributed, multi‑tenant, cloud‑native systems.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Kubernetes; Terraform; containers; and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep knowledge of APIs, service boundaries, data stores, networking, identity and access management, secrets management, secure software delivery, and production observability.
