- Mature the Kong Mesh ecosystem into a production-grade platform with patterns for security, traffic management and observability.
- Define service-to-service communication patterns, including zero-trust networking, certificate lifecycle, mTLS policies and debugging.
- Build infrastructure-as-code, automation and tooling that reduce toil.
- Set SLOs, monitor reliability and define quality standards for the infrastructure platform.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis for Kubernetes and mesh issues.
- Mentor engineers on Kubernetes internals, mesh design and distributed systems thinking.
- Evaluate infrastructure tools and work with platform and product teams on their needs and the roadmap.
Required profile
- 7+ years in platform infrastructure, SRE, cloud infrastructure or related work, having built and operated large systems.
- Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience, including multi-cluster operations, scheduling, networking, security and debugging.
- Experience with modern service mesh platforms (Kong Mesh, Istio, Linkerd or Envoy-based systems) and mTLS, traffic policies and zero-trust networking.
- Understanding of distributed systems and failure modes at scale.
- Defined and tracked SLOs/SLIs for infrastructure services.
- Codes in at least one modern language, builds tools and automates operations, and mentors engineers.
Required skills
- AWS, including VPCs, networking, security and hybrid environments such as Outposts.
- Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform, Helm, Datadog.
- Bonus: production Envoy, AWS Outposts, CNCF Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKS, CKAD), regulated-industry experience, eBPF tools like Cilium.
What we offer
- Salary range of $159,000 - $208,950 USD depending on experience, location and market.
- Medical, vision and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off and 14 paid holidays.
- Possible short-term or long-term incentives, including bonuses and stock program participation.
