Staff Attorney – Immigration Law (Phoenix & Tucson)

About the role

The Florence Project seeks a dedicated Staff Attorney to provide direct representation and pro se assistance to individuals detained by ICE in Arizona. Working primarily in Phoenix and Tucson, you will support clients throughout removal proceedings, including those deemed incompetent.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews and group "Know Your Rights" presentations at detention centers.
• Prepare and deliver pro se materials, legal research, and written motions for immigration court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Represent clients in bond, merits, and appeal hearings before EOIR, BIA, and USCIS.
• Handle a full range of relief applications, such as asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, VAWA, T and U visas.
• Collaborate with pro bono, social services, and advocacy teams; participate in outreach and joint projects.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership.
• Experience representing immigrants in removal proceedings.
• Strong ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required skills

• Legal research and analysis.
• Drafting motions, briefs, and other immigration filings.
• Court representation before EOIR, BIA, and USCIS.
• In-depth knowledge of immigration law and relief options.
