Managing Attorney – Children’s Immigration Program

About the role

The Managing Attorney leads the legal team that serves unaccompanied immigrant children in Arizona. Reporting to the Children’s Program Manager, this senior attorney provides courtroom representation, supervises staff, and contributes to program development and outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor legal staff, including managing attorneys and legal assistants.
• Conduct case reviews, ensure high-quality representation in immigration, family, and state courts.
• Provide direct representation to a hand‑selected caseload of complex or high‑impact cases.
• Deliver “Know Your Rights” presentations and individual intakes for detained youth.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager, Legal Director, and executive leadership on training, professional development, and program initiatives.
• Travel between Phoenix and Tucson as needed to support supervision and outreach.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree and active bar admission.
• Extensive experience in immigration law, especially representing unaccompanied minors.
• Proven supervisory or leadership experience within a legal services setting.
• Strong courtroom advocacy skills in immigration and family courts.
• Willingness to travel regularly within Arizona.
