Job description
About the role
This senior position focuses on developing and optimizing vehicle dynamics features, including chassis controls, torque vectoring, and active driveline systems, for a joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies. The engineer will lead dynamics feature development across expanding drivetrain permutations, leveraging AI‑assisted engineering tools to accelerate analysis, requirements, and validation.
Key responsibilities
- Support and drive development of vehicle dynamics features for chassis controls, torque vectoring, and active driveline under guidance of senior engineers.
- Collaborate with OEM stakeholders to define user stories and performance attributes.
- Derive top‑down attributes for mechanical, electrical, and software components using first‑principles.
- Develop and document traceable requirements at vehicle, system, and component levels.
- Interface with other functional domains to ensure vehicle‑level quality, integration, and manufacturability.
- Support attribute verification, vehicle performance evaluation, and feature‑level DFMEAs.
- Contribute to system‑level functional safety work products compliant with ISO 26262.
- Participate in global in‑vehicle testing, validation, and DVP&R activities across SIL, HIL, component, and vehicle levels.
- Utilize AI‑assisted tools (LLM coding assistants, AI‑enhanced simulation, automated traceability) to improve engineering throughput.
- Develop and maintain physics‑based vehicle models for semi‑active and active suspension systems using MATLAB or AI‑based tooling.
Required profile
- Senior‑level experience in vehicle dynamics, chassis control, torque vectoring, and active driveline systems.
- Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with OEM stakeholders and technical domains.
- Experience applying AI‑assisted engineering tools to accelerate analysis and validation.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and DFMEA processes.
Required skills
- MATLAB for vehicle modeling and simulation.
- AI‑assisted simulation and coding tools (LLM‑based assistants, AI‑enhanced pre/post‑processing).
- Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and automated requirements traceability.
- DFMEA and functional safety documentation compliant with ISO 26262.
- SIL and HIL testing methodologies.
- DVP&R development and execution.
- Data analysis of proving‑ground and lab test events.
