Sports Medicine Assistant Resident (Full‑Time)

About the role

This full‑time post‑graduate residency supports patients in a sports‑medicine setting. Under supervision you will perform therapeutic procedures such as wound care, crutch and gait training, and instruct patients on exercise. You will also assist physicians with evaluation, documentation, treatment, education, and care coordination in both clinic and operative environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians with research and quality‑improvement projects.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, pathophysiology, anatomy, and clinical decision‑making.
• Gather patient histories, perform focused examinations, document findings, and place orders in the electronic medical record under written order guidelines.
• Perform wound care, crutch and gait training, casting, splinting, bracing, and instruct patients on exercise programs.
• Support physicians in clinic and operative settings, including positioning, draping, and intra‑operative patient care.
• Complete didactic coursework and deliver presentations as directed by the residency program.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health (required); Master’s degree in Allied Health or Education (preferred).
• No prior work experience required; 3 years related experience preferred.
• Certifications required: Certified Orthopedic Technologist (OTC), Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, Board of Certified Athletic Trainers Certification (BOCATC); state license preferred.
