About the role
The Financial Analyst supports the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science by managing grant‑related financial operations from proposal through closeout, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal policies.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and submit financial reports, monitor award budgets, process amendments, and generate required award reports.
- Maintain salary projection spreadsheets, track award end dates, and advise faculty on burn rates and extension requests.
- Approve expense transactions, perform account reconciliations in Workday, and ensure proper effort reporting.
- Collaborate with faculty, research staff, and the Office of Research Administration to close out awards efficiently.
- Provide cost and budget analysis assistance to departments and serve as a resource for fiscal inquiries.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Research Administration or a related field (preferred).
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in an academic or research setting.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Required skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with financial systems such as Workday.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
